Making Change in Your Own Backyard…
Dear Friends,
Can you think of any better way to end the summer than enjoying a backyard gathering with new and old friends to celebrate Cultivate Initiatives' work?
At the end of August, our friends Susan and Ernesto graciously hosted a meaningful event in their backyard. Props to their son, Emilliano, whose amazing cooking meant we were surrounded by good company and delicious tacos! Their heart for this event was to share our mission with their friends and colleagues, inspiring tangible action to support our unhoused neighbors in Portland and surrounding areas. It was a wonderful opportunity for these community members who had not yet heard about Cultivate Initiatives, to learn about the powerful impact we're making together.
At Cultivate Initiatives, we believe that communities become stronger when neighbors support one another.
Our relational approach integrates health and hygiene support, workforce development, sheltering, and housing pathways-all created in partnership with the individuals we serve.
Those gathered heard inspiring stories from our team members, Emily and Ty, whose experiences with our support and programs highlighted the important shifts from mere survival to paths of hope and stability. Stories like Ty and Emily's remind us of the importance of collaborating within our neighborhoods to foster growth and resilience.
We are tremendously grateful to everyone who joined us and particularly to Susan, Ernesto and Emilliano for their gracious hospitality. Support can come in many forms-whether hiring our landscaping and property maintenance crews, donating your time and skills, or contributing financially to strengthen our foundation. Each and every bit helps us reach people at their most needed moments.
We cannot put into words what this kind of support means to us.

Exciting news! Cultivate Initiatives has been selected for this year's Willamette Week Give! Guide, running from November 1st to December 31st.
This will be our third year participating and it's a great opportunity to amplify our mission, reach local supporters in our community, and raise needed funding for the year ahead. We'll share more in the coming weeks.
