Our First Year.

As we reflect on our first fiscal year, our design team has been hard at work preparing something really special - our first Annual Report! We are pretty proud of this 30-page booklet featuring photos, quotes, original artwork, program stats, and first-hand accounts of the impact Cultivate Initiatives has made on the community.

This report celebrates and recognizes the incredible efforts of our team in helping those who have been marginalized in East Portland. We’d like to give a big thank you to Davey Hall for his original art and layout, Kate Plummer for her design, Matthew McCarl for his words, and Kyle Lockwood for his direction on the project. It was a big undertaking for our crew, and we hope you find it as enjoyable to read as we did to work on it.

You must be saying to yourself, “I’d love to get my hands on this report, how do I go about getting one?” Well, friend, you’re in luck!

  • As a thank you to everyone who has helped make our first year possible, all past donors will receive the Annual Report free in the mail!

  • For new patrons, anyone who donates $10 or more during the month of September will receive their own, limited-edition copy while supplies last!

We appreciate your support; our impact would be so different without you. Click below to donate.

A Fresh New Look.

Our Shower and Laundry trucks have just had a makeover! It’s a good feeling driving these colorful new designs around town and serving folks with a clean shower and fresh laundry. Be sure to check our website and social media every Monday to see where you can find our shower & laundry mobile sites throughout the week as well as see a short video of the transformation!

Taking Notice.

Earlier in August, we joined Senators Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden, Governor Kate Brown, EPA Administrator Michael Regan, and a host of other incredible leaders at the Sunrise Center (the same location we operate cooling shelters). Members of the Cultivate Initiatives community gave a tour of the shower truck and shared their invaluable insights as neighbors with the experience of staying at and operating a cooling shelter. We are so grateful to share the successes and challenges of this work, and for the opportunity to advocate for more resources like the cooling shelter.

What’s Next?

• The Menlo Park Safe Rest Village is coming together. We expect to see tiny houses, facilities, utilities, and more as we train new staff and prepare for the grand opening!

• A new shower trailer has been built with all of the amenities we could hope for. Look for its launch in the coming weeks!
