A Safe Haven

Dear Friends,

Early February, we partnered with Multnomah County to operate a severe weather shelter during some challenging conditions of rain, snow, and freezing temperatures.

We welcomed our neighbors during this tough weather to provide them with a warm place to rest, access essential resources, obtain supplies, and come together as a community.

For six days, we ran the shelter, with around-the-clock support for much of that time. It is heartening to see how these shelters truly make a difference for everyone—both housed and unhoused—who need a safe haven when the weather turns dangerously cold. Each night, an average of 63 individuals chose to stay overnight, highlighting the initiative's vital impact and significance in the community.

We want to personally express our heartfelt gratitude to the first responders, volunteers, organizations, and Multnomah County staff who came together to support our community during this bitterly cold weather. Your dedication and compassion truly shine through in moments like these. Thank you for making a difference!

Laughter Unites

We had a fantastic time at our 2nd Annual Cultivate Comedy Hour last Friday! Neighbors from all walks of life came together to share some laughter at the Youth Organized and United to Help Center. It brings us immense joy to see our housed and unhoused neighbors, those staying at the Menlo Park Safe Rest Village, along with friends, family, donors, and partners, enjoying the incredible gift of laughter together.

Talented comedians Ryan Danley, Amanda Lynn Deal, Julia Corral, and Anthony Robinson entertained our community, bringing joy, surprises, and plenty of laughs to everyone in attendance.

With around 80 people present—many of whom earned free tickets by donating to our Give!Guide campaign—it was a delight to hear so many people laughing together!

Events like this help build community by allowing individuals from diverse backgrounds to connect and enjoy each other's company.

We would like to sincerely thank everyone who donated their time and resources to make this event possible: the comedians, the Y.O.U.TH Center team, Green Bridge Coffee, and our dedicated volunteers.o pursue further education in social work.

Our Favorite Time of the Year!

We're excited to announce our annual Cultivate Initiatives Eat & Greet! This year, we will host our 2025 Eat & Greet on the evening of Friday, May 23rd. Be sure to mark your calendars and invite your neighbors!

Open to all ages, the Eat & Greet is a fun event that brings together housed and unhoused neighbors for an evening filled with great food, live music, games, laughter, and conversation.

Our Eat & Greet is a fantastic opportunity to strengthen connections and foster community in complex areas like 122nd and Burnside. It’s all about coming together, celebrating diversity, and building relationships that matter.

We look forward to seeing everyone on Friday, May 23rd, as we celebrate and enjoy our neighborhood together!
